I wish I could "like" this statement a thousand times. The American Church has mostly forgotten this and has decided that our job here on earth is to try and make earth as much like Heaven as possible, which includes forcing people with no motive to do so to live the way Jesus commanded. The point is that it's NOT possible, therefore we need to look ahead to what comes after this life. Our job here is to be the picture of Jesus to those who would not seek him otherwise.
My imagination can't stretch far enough to include a perfect world populated by perfect people. Even one perfect person seems out of reach. However, it's good to dream and do our part to get there.
I didn’t know about the origin of Imagine, but it’s really interesting.
I’m reminded of a post I saw recently that said something like:
God doesn’t need us to defend him or judge for him. He wants us to show his love.

A really powerful message on the importance of hope and compassion. Great article Steve.
