I hesitate to jump to eschatological explanations, but there are two schools of thought on America's role in the endtimes. One is that America has a central role as the "spiritual Israel," but this seems pretty unlikely since Israel's rebirth. The second is that America has no role and will be removed prior to the end.
I've wondered long before Tuesday if our decline may be setting the stage for endtime events that occur in a world without an American superpower. Maybe yes and maybe no, but internal conflicts, resurgent isolationism, and a church that has lost its first love make me think it's plausible.
Interesting take Steve, and just one of a couple i have read since trump was elected. My take is simple, as a country of voters, we just aren't very bright or tuned in. Clearly character has virtually no importance in who we elect. And please spare me, the nonsense voters love his "policies."
Nope, apparently we love the show, need to be entertained by an old man doing the "weave." We love the endless lies, hatred and rage that pours forth every time he stepped on a stage or appeared in front of a microphone.
Here's the good news (at least for me), i am an old man, relatively comfortable as i age. As i have written often, who wins or looses the election won't change my life in any meaningful way. After 48 years of sobriety, i understand perfectly my happiness and peace of mind is on me. No one else, no other person or thing can or will change that.
The chaos will be endless and rule the day, for that you are dead spot on. The one argument/rebuttal i have is simply this and i hope you are right: Somehow this is part of God's master plan and that we auto or self correct and find a better place for this country?
My best bet is a year from know way too many folks will look in the mirror and ask themselves: my God, what have we done?
Again, you fail to listen to the reason why people voted the way that they did. The left has come off as above all others forcing their will upon the people. It's hilarious that you mention God and the bible. The democrats can't even say what defines a female. People don't want their children exposed to men in the ladies restroom or playing on the same playing field. They don't want open boarders and then have to pay for those who have entered this country illegally. They want a law force that is supported and criminals go and stay in jail for their crimes. For these reasons and many more we the people have been told to just accept it while their loved ones were killed. Out of control spending that fueled inflation (not the total reason) which forced people sacrifice their lifestyles. These are just some of the reasons that we the people see as real chaos. The white house often failed to tell the truth and President Biden did not address the public very often. The mainstream news reported in favor of the democrats consistently even up to the last minute with 60 minutes editing the comments of the Vice President.
President Biden gave a good speech after the election and seemed as if he was glad that the people that stabbed him in the back lost. The democrats talk about democracy yet failed to hold a primary. I could continue but by the message you posted, I highly doubt that you would give my position a second thought.
The last four years has been chaos for the people that are conservative in belief.
All true. But let’s not pretend we have the answer in Trump. He’s purely a protest vote and will usher in more chaos. Out of the chaos, God will shake what is shakeable and we will cling to what is not shakeable.
Soooo-- It's back to "WE're smarter than THEY are. They should listen to their betters." Trump voters voted their wallets--it's the economy..." $1 more per gallon for gas or $1 more a dozen for eggs isn't material for upper income households, but it is significant for working class and lower income earners.
Harris and Walz were inauthentic--she by being cagey about her positions from her 2019 run or as represented by her personal resume. Him because he wasn't believable as a "regular guy," " a gun-totin 'Merican."
Trump-- the voters DO prefer his policies--read survey after survey. If you look at the demographics of this election, a web search for the results at FT.com (financial times, UK), you will see the shift.
Excepting of course that people are in fact earning more: they just focus on nominal prices, not actual percentage of their income.
I think most people have no idea how Trump's policies will affect them: whether it be parents of autistic children (eliminating the DoEd), or their understanding of how tariffs work.
What you say applies to some people but not a majority. Many seniors who are not poor focus on prices because they are not earning more. Many lower income people who are earning marginally more are losing ground to inflation.
I'm sure your demographics are correct but read my comment again. The last sentence is not limited to seniors. I don't know the current median income but a couple of years ago it was less than $50,000.
Hopefully, almost certainly, the GOP will choose a better candidate in 2028 but it will not matter to the media or left-leaning pundits. To them the Republican will be an authoritarian Nazi / Fascist / Dictator wannabe hell bent on destroying democracy and totally devoid of character unlike the democrat nominee who embodies the second coming.
I predict the Trump felony convictions will be overturned on appeal as will the ridiculous penalty for estimates of property value. And the misdemeanor defamation award to E. Jean Carroll will be greatly reduced.
Many of them voted, but not for Kamala Harris and not for Donald Trump. They voted for Mickey Mouse, Ronald McDonald, "You're All Crooks," or left the ballot blank. Many didn't vote at all. But most went to the polls and voted downballot, just not for president.
Try to answer the question instead of asking another question please. Because 66 million versus 81 million is a big difference. So 15 million who voted for Biden Harris didn’t vote for Harris walz.
The election was always about who was not going to vote for the two main candidates. Where where the conservative votes that abandoned Romney for his run?
Per Kimmel's "person on the street" segment, a lot of people didn't know when the election was; or who was running; or didn't believe their vote matters.
2020 was likely an outlier as elections go: people were home more, perhaps paying more attention because what else was there to do?
We'll get the full tally, and find out exactly how many people either just didn't vote or left the top of the ballot blank
Yes. Georgia is a special case. Trump lost a lot of voters by insisting they not vote by mail. It was a stupid move and political malpractice that in 2024 his campaign would not repeat.
Yeah, if he hadn't attacked but instead embraced mail voting in 2020 he likely would have won.
Interesting other data point: looks like Harris actually gained more support from LDS members than Biden, making that the only religious group with which she improved.
Also: per CNN, there's still ~11.5-12mil ballots left to be counted. So once every ballot is counted we'll likely only be a couple million votes down from 2020.

Not necessarily part of God’s “master plan” but certainly no surprise to God, who turns what is meant for evil to good (Genesis 50:20).

Please keep God out of this muddle.

On the contrary, the majority of the population is between the ages of 25-64.
I'm sure your demographics are correct but read my comment again. The last sentence is not limited to seniors. I don't know the current median income but a couple of years ago it was less than $50,000.
Real media income in 2023: $80,610
25 is not that "young" for lower income earners. So that's why I started from that age.
Thanks. That's the number I see for household income - not individual. I have yet to find an 18 - 64-year-old median.

I think Andy Kim has a decent thread about where we currently stand: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1854585786773000223.html
My question is where are the 15 million voters who voted for Biden in 2020but didn’t vote for Kamala in 2024 ?
Many of them voted, but not for Kamala Harris and not for Donald Trump. They voted for Mickey Mouse, Ronald McDonald, "You're All Crooks," or left the ballot blank. Many didn't vote at all. But most went to the polls and voted downballot, just not for president.
Between 4 and 5 percent of the votes cast for POTUS in my precinct were for write-in candidates (valid or not).
Try to answer the question instead of asking another question please. Because 66 million versus 81 million is a big difference. So 15 million who voted for Biden Harris didn’t vote for Harris walz.
More like 7 million. But yes.
So you are claiming 81 million voted for democrats but not for Kamala?
Not a claim. A fact. Yes.
The election was always about who was not going to vote for the two main candidates. Where where the conservative votes that abandoned Romney for his run?

Also: at this time, Harris got more votes than Biden in Georgia and Wisconsin. Trump just won a lot more than in 2020.
Yes. Georgia is a special case. Trump lost a lot of voters by insisting they not vote by mail. It was a stupid move and political malpractice that in 2024 his campaign would not repeat.
