From what I’ve seen, it wasn’t just a computer leak. Part of how they identified him was by identifying items in the margins of pictures of paper documents that he posted to the internet. He either had to print the documents himself (that would probably be traceable) or he picked up undestroyed documents somewhere.

But in a SCIF, you’re not supposed to have undestroyed classified paper sitting around. It’s all accounted for. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this.

"Of course, that's a cynical take, but I am not the only one who shares it. The folks who work day and night, who spent 20 year military careers in cyber or intelligence, aren't buying this story."

You basically have fleshed out what I've been mulling around since yesterday. I've been wondering if he was pulling documents out of a honeypot set up for him to to peruse and pull from.

#TexieraPatsy Patsy is the correct spelling and patsies is the plural. Not sure where you got "patsie" as the singular.

It appears that recent reporting on RedState and a few other sites are in complete agreement with you. I'm guessing that Texiera had help from higher ups, carelessness maybe but more likely deliberate. I hope he is well guarded.

Ok, if you believe that, great. I don't. Is that what the leaked document referred to?

I think if American troops were ever to directly engage with Russians, the Russians would make a very big deal about it, publicly. Why haven’t they?

Expand full comment

Not if they were not advertised as Americans. The Russians and our government are famous for doing that with special operators.

Covid taught us that nothing that comes out of the DC machine is believable. Of course there is always a purpose to these stories/actions/leaks. Did anyone notice. besides the MAGA crowd, that the US has soldiers in Ukraine fighting directly against Russians. I guess that Biden slip, last year, where he said to the US soldiers were soon going to be going into Ukraine was a little more than a slip. It was the truth.

Laurence, appreciate the lively comment. However the facts don’t line up regarding Ukraine. We have troops protecting our embassy and diplomatic corps in Ukraine. Just like we have them in EVERY country where we have diplomatic relations. Usually it’s Marines. And no they are not just dress-up symbolic, even in friendly nations. In Ukraine, it appears to be Special Forces (which can also be Marines since Force Recon is SF). These troops are not engaged fighting Russians, unless Russians are stupid enough to attack our embassy. So, no, our troops are not fighting Russians or serving alongside Ukrainian troops (which as part of their “foreign legion” some American citizens fight but they are not American soldiers). The military relationship between Ukraine and US military is formal, advisory, logistical, and intelligence exchange. That’s it and that’s what it’s been since the mid 1990s, though we have certainly amped up the activity since Putin sought to annex the country.

And if we really had troops fighting directly it'd be thousands, not under 30.

You can also see these personnel in pics with visiting US politicians, providing additional protection.

Another good question is: how, after Jan 6, was this young man missed in terms of finding his bigoted/anti-Semitic videos? Why was he a member of the Mass. Air National Guard at all?

And this lady: it seems like we have a much wider/bigger issue.
