Love the responses you get David; between the Matt Taabbi's oft cited mistaken identity and the oft cited claims of TDS, dare i say, boring?
The US , whether winning the war, losing the war or simply being a stalemate, those of us living the "American Dream" are being crushed by rising costs and no plan to address them. The good news? Oil companies have doubled their profits this year. Drill baby drill...indeed.
On a brighter side, the stable genius has clearly grown tired of Iran, the whine of high prices and the congress mandated release of the full Epstein files. His focus for all us poor lemmings he governs is a 400 million dollar albatross called a ballroom/bunker and of even greater importance pursuing justice over a photograph of sea shells.
David, your TDS is blinding you to what is actually going on now in Iran. It is obvious that you don’t know much about the production of crude oil so I won’t get into a pissing contest here with you but will tell you this one fact that you either don’t know or choose to ignore: Oil wells can not be shut down. You have to keep pumping. Once you shut them down they clog up and can’t easily be restarted and likely be restarted at all. You must keep pumping and either store or ship the oil. Iran has acknowledged that they have as little as a week’s storage left. The President knows this, Iran knows this, but you obviously don’t or you would not have eloquently written such a poorly reasoned column.
I’m just going to address your factual error. Oil wells can be capped and shut off. This isn’t necessarily easy or easily reversible, but it can be done.
Pick a few cliches for bullet points and insert a biased and shallow screed. How does something like this see the light of day. What is going on a Racket? This is insulting to any informed reader on the left or right. C’mon, man. We pay for information like a modern poll tax or literacy test. Please consider the product.
I respect you David, but your frame is wrong here. Blockading Iranian ports is no idle threat.
1. IRGC cannot pay its soldiers or its proxies, or even its widows.
2. Iran's oil wells are mostly low-pressure and if they cannot resume operations, they will suffer permanent damage imminently.
Math, morale, and geology are all working against the mullahs.
If they lose export capacity, it's billions of dollars a year and the regime is toast. Every day the Strait remains closed makes contracts with American energy producers more attractive. All the world's most critical supply chains are being rewired in our favor right now. Time, time, time, is on our side. Yes it is.

Only in America brother, only in America.

You really need to understand the information in your citation before doubling down on your lack of petroleum knowledge. Me: Chemical Engineer. You?
Not low-pressure wells like Iran has. Trust the petrochemical engineer in your comments.

This is "The Racket News", which predates Matt Taibbi's "Racket News" by years.
Thank you

As you note, Trump is doing a modern day version of crying wolf. But one of these days, the wolf will come, and it will be bad for everyone.
