It's not just unfortunate for Democrats: it's unfortunate for anyone that believes in rule by the people (when the GOP starts passing laws enabling legislative override of election results), freedom of religion (which will affect non-favored Christian sects as much as non-Christians), freedom of speech (via attacks on freedom of association)....
But gas prices are more important than those things.
