I’ll point out that it’s possible for the statements that “Trump can’t win in 2024” “Trump’s nomination I’d inevitable” to both be true. I think that might be the case.
I don’t know if they think he’s inevitable and I disagree with that policy. I like to avoid categorical statements so I’ll put “near” in front of both statements.
I think you and David are both right. The only thing that will prevent Biden's re-election is the possibility of him so unbelievably screwing up the USA that it overcomes the fierce Trump hate. The political propaganda machine appears to be well on their way to creating a similar amount of DeSantis hate. A Republican candidate who can't at least come close to matching DeSantis in his opposition to the relentless advancement of the socialist nanny state will never get conservative votes out in huge numbers.
Would not matter. Would not win the electoral college. Too many conservatives would sit it out and no way Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin would flip. Georgia and Arizona (26 electoral votes) might be pickups making it 280 to 258 in favor of democrats. If the people of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania become pissed off enough it could be a different story. But WI is all about abortion and PA elected Fetterman.
If you can find one that doesn't totally turn off the majority of right wingers who probably aren't extremists. I don't know who that might be. I might vote for Mitt Romney or Liz Cheney but John Kasich or Adam Kinzinger would be a bitter pill to swallow. I might vote for them (yuck) but many conservatives would not show up.
And, yes, nominees such as Herschel Walker have cost us a lot of winnable seats. Very few approached his level of incompetence but guilt by association is real.
"If you really believe that Hunter Biden’s laptop is a bigger story than Donald Trump’s January 6th riot, then it would seem that the media is conspiratorially ignoring the Jim Jordan-Mike Morrell story because it exposes the totally secret truth that Democrats wanted Joe Biden to win in 2020. That’s what Matt Taibbi believes, because he pretty much wrote it."
I know democrats wanted Joe Biden to be elected. Was the orchestrated information control election interference? I think so but I am not a lawyer. My question is do the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop implicate or lead to evidence of Joe Biden being a participant in illegal influence peddling. If so, that story is just as big as any of Trump's outrageous behavior.

David, if it’s inevitable, why would Democrats try to make it happen? Both might be arguably true but they don’t really appeal to the same audience.

Or Republicans could nominate someone who would appeal to a broader audience.

I’m not saying don’t nominate a conservative. I’m saying nominate a conservative with mainstream appeal.
MAGA’s cult like tendencies have lost a lot of races.

These dynamics plus team sports politics are the undercurrents of modern propaganda.
