I must live in a bubble because i don't hear these types of comments or see this kind of behavior: "So many politicians and green-room pundits would rather play political footsie games with other people’s grandmas and grandpas, pointing and laughing at the hicks and rubes, pleased when they get sick and die. To them I say: Stop it and be a human being, not a scumbag." If you have seen that kind of behavior i'd love to see a link or two Steve.

Yes people are placing the blame of the spread where it belongs; on those not vaccinated. We could debate the reasons for it but whether valid fears or simply trying to stick it to Biden, the end result is the same...people are dying and the Delta variant is spreading.

On the other side of the ledger, these kinds of messaging are where the rubber should hit the road:

1). Ron Johnson: "The initial goal of public policy was to flatten the curve so we wouldn’t overwhelm hospitals. At some point, federal agencies moved the goal posts. The initial goal was achievable. I’m not even sure what the new goal is. Time to let Americans, not federal agencies, make decisions for themselves and their children. Time to reclaim liberty and end this state of fear."

2). Charlie Kirk: “If VAERS is off by 99 percent, that would mean that 1.2 million people died after getting the vaccine. If VAERS is off by 90 percent, that means that 123,000 people died. I’m not saying that’s true, I’m saying that according to how we calculate VAERS…this could be true."

3). Tucker Carlson: "But we know lying when we see it and you just saw it. To say again, in unison, and they are all saying it: this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated is simply untrue. That's a lie."

4). Chip Roy (Texas) I'll spare you the rest of the stupid, this says/asks it all: "'Which is it- vaccines or masks?' Duh...really dude...it's both.

5). Marjorie Taylor Greene: This one is a beauty: "“No one cares about the Delta variant or any other variant."

6). Ron DeSantis: To his credit he got vaccinated and told people so; sadly it didn't end there: "DeSantis noted their effectiveness but also defended an individual's choice. That's as about 44%, according to CDC reports, of Floridians have yet to receive a single shot.

7). Governor Abbott: "The Lone Star State continues to defeat COVID-19 through the use of widely-available vaccines, antibody therapeutic drugs, and safe practices utilized by Texans in our communities. "We can continue to mitigate COVID-19 while defending Texans' liberty to choose whether or not they mask up." Bonus header: "This Houston hospital is reporting 500% increase in COVID admissions as fear of surge increases." July 27, 2021.

I could go on, but why bother Steve? If you truly want to get on the "stop the mixed messaging bus," start with the morons who have influence with all of those not vaccinated on the right. It's pretty safe to say, those on the left not getting shots aren't doing it because they want Biden to fail.

And as long as we are chatting you mentioned both Trump and Fox hosts telling people to get vaccinated. I've seen the comments and they almost always come with the caveat, ya but we really believe in your freedom not to. If that isn't a mixed message what is?

Finally here's my message, no ambiguity, not waffling or wishy washy crap...get the damned shot and if you can't for valid reasons, stay home or at the very least wear a mask and quit freaking whining about it.

What we have here is a communications problem. You can’t get people who live and breathe individualism and personal liberty to do anything using the language of state control (liberal talk), unless it’s something they already want (e.g. abortion bans). The solution is better communication. I am vaccinated. I had COVID. I am not going to wear a mask.

I didn't create the mistrust of government. You did. The information they need is already there, you just posted it right in this blog. And please tell me what kind of ad from the CDC or the administration of Joe Biden could actually do to reach those people who you have spent a career telling them they can't trust it.

I know I've told you for years that you can't trust the government in anything but I promise in this you can!

Here's an idea. Stop expecting others to save your grandparents while you continue to lie to them.

Me? First of all, should we have believed Nixon and trusted the government? Should we have believed Bush and there was WMD? Should we have believed Johnson and the Gulf of Tonkin? Should we have believed Reagan on the Sandinistas vs Contras? The government gives us plenty of reasons to distrust it without blaming a tiny little blogger like me.

Second, Disney does very well despite its commitment to love China no matter what crimes the CCP commits. People still watch movies, buy Cokes, shop at Walmart and fork over cash to Amazon despite those companies being horrific liars. It’s all marketing.

Politics is also marketing. But when I say it out loud you get all flustered and blame me for saying it.

Yes: marketing can get people to take the vaccine. The right message and the right messenger and the right symbols and the right influencers can do it. Absolutely and without question.

The only one of those I was actually around and old enough to understand was Bush and if I remember correctly we did trust him. In fact, in any of those examples did we not trust the government? I know it came back to bite us but originally people trusted the government until they gave us a reason not too.

Trump gave more reason than any of those guys not to trust him and yet I still took the vaccine that he got made in record time. And all I needed to do to feel safe and comfortable taking it were talking to my transplant doctors. Politics never even entered the picture.

And this is my whole issue. People made this political and now you are expecting the people who have been demonized to somehow reach the people who've been misled to believe them to be demons.

Why shouldn't the people who have been lying for the past 18 months about COVID bare this responsibility?
