At some point, the various organizations policing lawyers and other folks engaged in the practice of law need to lay down some lines that define which lines of argument will get someone disbarred. It's pretty clear that Trump isn't filing suits to have the issue decided (which will not go his way), but to file enough nuisance lawsuits to delay the process long enough until Jan. 2023 when the GOP might retake the House. And the problem is that there are enough lawyers willing to play along instead of telling Trump to pound sand.
Until there's an active disincentive for folks to represent him and his brain-dead legal theories, we're going to have to keep dealing with the crap that he keeps throwing into the system to gum it up. We need something in place to convince lawyers that should they continue down the path blazed by Powell, Guiliani, and Wood, they'll meet the same fate and likely get their licenses to practice law revoked.
While odious presidential pardons are nothing new, IMO Trump’s pardon of Steve Bannon is among the most odious of them all. I know individuals who were gullible enough to be defrauded by Bannon, as they though the money they were giving was going to the border wall. Other than maybe Paul Manafort, Bannon was probably the most deserving of prison time of all those in Trump’s circle.
I used to be a fan of Breitbart.com years ago. They were hard hitting, but maintained intellectual consistency and weren’t hesitant to go after the right when it was warranted. I remember that Andrew Breitbart had a very low regard for Donald Trump, and considered him to be a self-aggrandizing demagogue. Then Breitbart passed away in 2012, and Bannon took the helm of Breitbart.com. He wasted no time in ruining what Andrew did, by turning the website into a quasi alt-right, populist-nationalist site. Not to mention a site for hard core Trump sycophancy.
While I’m glad the 1-6 commission won’t let Bannon get off scott free, I’m hoping that our judicial system is prepared for the stall and delay tactics the Trump and those around him will inevitably bring. Fingers crossed.
If I’m not mistaken, New York threw the gauntlet down at Giuliani and suspended his law license. And from what I read, his status regarding his law license is under a formal review. He could be permanently disbarred following the review.
As for Powell and Wood, I’ve read that their licensure status is under review in several states. I’m not sure how long a formal review takes when suspension and disbarment is considered. I’m just surprised the process is taking this long, especially when their misdeeds are plainly obvious. And that lawyers have lost law licenses for considerably lesser wrongdoings in a much more expeditious manner.

The downside is that past 2022 they will have to deal with 2024. There will never be a good time for the Republican reckoning that needs to come.
