To people like me who never delved into the details, Christie would appear to be the best NJ governor in recent memory. I think he could get a lot of votes but not win the nomination. You are certainly correct about his pandering and flip-flopping, but that's politics. I expect it from every politician especially Republicans. Democrats who are mostly safe from serious competition do better at sticking to the party line. When the party narrative changes, all democrats change their story in lockstep. I don't like their story, but they stick together.
