It is costly to become a pilot as it is expensive to obtain the air time necessary. In 1987, I loved a terrific guy who was scheduled for a second interview with a major airline and the future looked bright for us. To get a few extra hours, he volunteered to accompany another pilot in the small company for which he flew in a Rockwell 690A. He was killed when the plane crashed. I know that is not a common experience, but it highlights the pursuit of flight hours is not without peril.
