Glad to hear you're alright, and it sounds like it wasn't MRSA (please correct if wrong).
My wife and I don't let the kids have general access to any tablets/phones yet, and perhaps in the future we'll get them a dumb phone when the time comes. Sure don't need them constantly browsing away, at least not until they're adults.
On the topic of nihilism, it should be noted there are many different forms of which moral nihilism is but one. I personally fall into the optimistic nihilist camp - that there is no inherent meaning to life, which grants us the freedom to find our own individual meaning and joy in life.
Given that the bulk of this universe will spend its time in a darkness where black holes dance and make gravitational music in a spacetime incompatible with life itself[1] while it waits for protons to decay and individual photons to speed away from each other into an eternal loneliness, we have an opportunity (not necessarily an obligation) to make the most of the very short time that we have with this canvas to create, explore, and enjoy existing.
Get well. I suppose one of the few advantages of getting older is being isolated from a lot of hazards such as strep. The downside for me is that my granddaughter who teaches school, and her daughter are not isolated, but their visits are worth the risk.
My cousin was infected with MRSA once after hitting his shin on a stage. It's a bacteria that is basically everywhere - on your skin, in your nose/throat... The issue is when they cause an infection.

I consider myself an optimistic cosmic nihilist.

Welcome back to the living. Your absence was noted; for sure.
I long for the day when as a nation we embrace accountability, responsibility and ownership. I'm hard pressed to hold my breath.
