Without belaboring the article this one comment defines and describes trump's entire existence: "while some is the purposeful work of grifters who are trying to encourage Trump’s base." The king of the con is surrounded by those who have made a mockery out of what the American way of life was intended to be and simply tried to cash in like the orange guy has. Cashing in on him is the new normal.

The good news for David, Steve, Jay and The Racket News is: no paywall, they write for the love of the written word and standing for the things they believe in. Kudos boys.

Hate to point this out, but "The classic example of a limit on the freedom of speech is that falsely yelling “fire” in a crowded theater is not protected." is actually protected, provided it does not result in a riot with immediate injuries occurring.

In regards to corrupt intent: it doesn't matter what Trump believed to be true when he conspired to commit fraud - 'cause the ultimate end-state of getting some supporters to sign false affidavits stating they were alternate electors was itself known to not be following the law for alternative electors (as referenced in this thread from Gabriel Malor - https://twitter.com/gabrielmalor/status/1688416334869127168?s=20)

Highly recommend reviewing the 1960 Hawaii presidential election article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1960_United_States_presidential_election_in_Hawaii, and the Congressional Record as read by Mr. Nixon at https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/GPO-CRECB-1961-pt1/pdf/GPO-CRECB-1961-pt1-4-2.pdf (page 2 of 50 has the part where the competing slates of electors were read into the record, as sent and certified by the Governor of Hawaii). That latter point is important: there were two, officially certified slates of electors sent by the Governor of Hawaii under the laws regarding "certificates of ascertainment" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certificate_of_ascertainment.
