"We don’t know if Trump will run again. There’s a potential election interference case against Trump brewing in Fulton County that will rely heavily on Raffs as its star witness. District Attorney Fani Willis will get a recommendation from her special grand jury sometime this summer or in the fall, and we’ll see if there’s a case. If there is, that could be enough to keep Trump off the 2024 ballot. He’ll anoint someone, perhaps Gov. Ron DeSantis."

Is there a Georgia law that prevents people under indictment or on trial from appearing on the ballot? My personal impression is that Trump is more likely to sit back and remain kingmaker as long as he's being left alone legally (President'ing is HARD work), but legal jeopardy is the one thing that I can see motivating him to run again and dare the local prosecutors to go after the GOP frontrunner, and possible POTUS.

Trump poisoned ‘Trumpism’ like Jefferson Davis poisoned States’ rights. If Republicans are feeling alienated or marginalized, the Trump train is not on the right track. Unless you are looking to flash the middle finger to the political system. May feel good to some, but leads to no progress. Trump is the punk rock of politics.

If i were a "normal" everyday conservative (and i'm not) i would be very concerned about the GOP and what lies ahead. After yesterday's fiasco coming out of Texas and their "platform, "the ad run by Eric Greiten's and trump's continued comments at every opportunity, sanity appears to have no place in the GOP. Crazy appears to be more the norm.

As far as trump running again, why bother? The rubes will keep sending him millions and he can keep playing the game, spending it as he sees fit. The perfect con, from the perfect con man.

"They want someone to push back against the constant cultural push to marginalize conservative ideals and cast them as caveman, racist, or Nazi beliefs."

How much of this comes down to "conservatives" losing control of what is acceptable within culture, their inability to accept said loss of control, and having to live with their neighbors?

It doesn't help that literal racists and Nazis are coming out of the woodwork and seemingly have taken control of the party.

Is it really "straw-manning" when the Texas GOP platform released this week essentially reflects the worst caricatures of Conservatives the Left make?
