I only hope that we soon get political and military leaders who recognize that building and maintaining the most capable military on earth is the best way to assure peace.
“ America is tired of war after 20 years of the War on Terror, but it may be just that hesitance that makes it more likely that we will blunder our way into another war. Dictators bent on conquest are often encouraged by weakness and American leaders since George W. Bush have consistently been weak. We have also seen in the past how American isolationism can feed the territorial ambitions of authoritarians, which ultimately blossom into war.”
You summed it up very well. It is so easy to forget in our history, that every period of relative isolationism was inevitably followed by war. And the latter is far more costly in terms monetarily, and more importantly, in lives taken. While we obviously shouldn’t be finding military solutions for every global conflict, the US needs to maintain a strong presence globally in order to stand as a bulwark for freedom, prosperity, and stability. The further we as a country retreat from our leadership role globally, countries with nefarious goals will fill that vacuum. I also think that toxic levels of partisanship, polarization, and animosity in our country only emboldens countries like China, Russia, and Iran. I hope that we as Americans spend less time fighting over trivial matters such as masks and vaccines(which are amazing vaccines, might I say. Please get vaccinated!), and focus on much more important and weightier matters, such as the threats we face from abroad.
Restraining China and Russia is not going to be easy. It’s going to require a lot of(both diplomatic and economic)effort on our part, as well as other nations of good will in the free world. Contrary to what partisans on different sides claim, it doesn’t require us to be forced into a dichotomy of endless military adventurism(“endless wars” as the left and libertarians often claim) or retreat to isolationism . Instead, smart, prudent, and sensible engagement and leadership globally by the US can go a long way in restraining the worst impulses of countries like China and Russia. It doesn’t require one to choose between the extremes of economic/political isolationism and hyper-interventionist adventurism. We pretty much did this during the Cold War and to a extent, post Cold War. And it has paid dividends in greater overall stability and economic prosperity not only worldwide, but also here at home in the US.
The world lives in fear of our Woke Military. Our enemies must act fast because when Miley achieves his goal of combatting White Rage in the US military we will have an unmatched military.

Amen.

“well as (involvement of) other nations of good will in the free world.”
