I remember my first solo like it was yesterday. The feeling of taking off and looking to my right where there WASN’T ANYONE sitting is difficult to put in words. Exhilarating. Terrifying. I just took off in an airplane by myself. Now I have to land this thing. By myself.
Believe it or not, it wasn’t. It’s was more relief like “gee it flies the same without the instructor. I can do this.” Then it was just another touch and go.

Hat-tip to The Values Voter for these little pieces of info: the GOP has controlled the House for 20 of the last 30 years, and in that time they’ve shut down the government 5 times; forced out their own Speaker 3 times; almost caused a debt default 2 times (at minimum); and only cut spending for 2 of those 20 years.
