Johnson is no genius, but he knows that a government shutdown is bad for the party that caused it. The fringe GOP wants a shutdown because most of them won't suffer. The rest of the party will pay for that shutdown. How many times the lesson needs to be administered depends on how long the fringe keeps its power.

Interesting read and one i am fascinated by. Imagine, the possibilities of one or both political parties actually acting out as statesmen and working together. How refreshing would that be? Of course the rub is this David; who (or is it whom?) would be the first to reach out across the aisle with the extended hand looking to find solutions?

It is terrifying to me to even have to write tripe like this. Working across the aisle was always how it was supposed to work. The very thought that an inflated ego hanging around a golf course locker room with his pudgy little fingers pounding away on his phone and stopping the country from functioning, is even more frightening.

Worse yet are his minions who think this behavior and his actions are good for the country is even more bizarre. But then it is the new normal isn't it.

I grew up with my Dad calling the Democrats the Evil Party and the Republicans the Stupid Party. Sometimes they would come together and do something both evil and stupid. That is called bipartisanship.

It's difficult to believe that you are a conservative when your default position is that whatever the democrats demand is the best option we have. If that's the case, we should stand our ground and see if the voters to put democrats totally in control. If they can win by refusal to compromise, we have lost. Just accept the nanny socialist state and all that comes with it.

Perhaps in you speculative dreams. MTG might be for MAGA but she is not all MAGA. Average People are. She will not have enough support for the motion to vacate. The Speaker has made a mistake, he blinked, and played right into the hands of Democrat's.

Dems should only rescue Johnson if he does put those bills.on the floor for votes. Otherwise, let him be removed again.

Ken Buck just left, and Mike Gallagher leaves on April 19. That leaves the house at 217-213 for the time being. It'll be interesting to see how many more decide tomorrow early, and if that occurs in the window where these (and the other 3) vacancies are unfilled. Could the Speaker swap hands?
